רחובות (בראשית כו': כב')
ניגון חסידי ישן שמושר בשתי גירסאות: ללא מילים וגם על הפיוט "יעלה" מתוך הימים הנוראים. חסידי העיר רחובות התאימו לניגון זה את הפסוקים של הבאר השלישית שחפר יצחק אבינו – ויקרא שמה רחובות.
"ויעתק משם ויחפור באר אחרת ולא רבו עליה
ויקרא שמה רחובות
ויאמר כי עתה הרחיב ה' לנו ופרינו בארץ."
Rechovot (Bereishis, 26:22)
This vintage Chassidic melody was sung in two versions: without words, and to the hymn Yaaleh that is recited on the High Holy Days. The Chassidim of the city of Rechovot adapted this niggun to the verses regarding the third well that our ancestor Yitzchak built, which was called Rechovot.
He relocated from there and dug another well; and they did not quarrel over it, so he called its name Rechovot, and said, “for now G-d has granted us ample space, and we will be fruitful in the land.
